Missouri 911 Directors Association
For many years, 911 centers have been in a
state of crisis. Call volume is rapidly increasing while income
is steadily decreasing as citizens cancel their landline phones
and start using cell phones. Currently, 911 centers do not
receive funding for cell phones. This has prevented 911
centers from upgrading out-dated equipment to locate cell phone
callers as well as prevented agencies from properly training
their dispatchers. In October of 2009, Region F
called for a meeting of all 911 directors in Missouri. It
was the first ever meeting of 911 Directors in Missouri.
The turn-out was phenomenal!! After discussion of many
problems that are experienced all across the state and the need
for the 911 directors to come together to work towards a
statewide solution, the Missouri 911 Directors Association was
formed.
The Missouri 911 Directors Association is
made up of 911 Directors. The Executive board is made up
of a President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and a
Representative of each region. The Executive Board has
been working diligently to get new legislation started as well
as appointing a media committee to get the word out. The media
committee has put together an informational website and face
book page. It is
www.save911.org. Please visit the website for more
information.
